The 5-Minute Safety Setup

Follow these essential steps to protect your child on Roblox. Each step includes detailed instructions you can expand.

Use your child's REAL birthdate for automatic safety protections.

If Creating a New Account:

  • • Go to roblox.com and click "Sign Up"
  • Enter your child's REAL birthday - this is critical for safety features
  • • Create a username that doesn't reveal real name
  • • Use a password you can remember (you'll need it)
  • • Add YOUR email address for recovery

If Using Existing Account:

  • • Log into your child's account
  • • Verify the birthday is correct in Settings → Account Info
  • • If birthday is wrong, contact Roblox Support to correct it

Create your own account and link it to manage settings remotely.

  1. 1Create your own Roblox account at roblox.com (use your real adult age)
  2. 2On your child's account, go to:
    SettingsParental ControlsAdd Parents
  3. 3Complete age verification (requires ID or credit card)
  4. 4Accept the link request from your parent account

Create a 4-digit PIN to lock all safety settings.

The Parent PIN prevents your child from changing safety settings. Without it, they could disable the protections you set up.

Navigate to:
SettingsSecurityAccount PIN
  1. 1. Toggle "Account PIN" to ON
  2. 2. Enter a 4-digit PIN
  3. 3. Confirm the PIN
  4. 4. Enable "Require PIN for Settings"

Turn off all communication features to protect from strangers.

This is the most important safety setting. Disabling chat prevents strangers from contacting your child.

Set ALL of these to OFF or "No one":

  • Experience Chat → OFF
  • Experience Direct Chat → OFF
  • Party → No one
  • Group Party → No one
